Our club past president, Rotaract Club of Richmond President Aaron and International Service
Director Vivian

Aaron and Vivian started their presentation off by telling members what they have achieved last year. For community service projects, they go to King George Park once a month for garbage cleanup and on Earth Day to plant trees. They have also partnered up with other non-profit organizations to help them raise funds such as the Canadian Cancer Society, Richmond Homelessness Coalition. They have after-school programs for members to mentor and tutor students. They provide support and help to Rotary clubs including the Club’s annual Winter Wonderland event.

For their Culture Exchange they connect local elementary school with a school overseas. Their annual fundraising event is in Terra Nova which has raised $400 last year. They also use iCare Auctions to raise funds.

For Professional Development they have gone on a wine tour at Sanduz Winery and two of their members had taken emergency first aid training. They also collaborate with other Rotaract clubs in the district. They have sent 4 members to the RYLA North camp that went on last week.

For this year their goals include increasing membership and they have lowered the membership fee to $10 from $25 to attract more people. A committee structure has been set up to encourage more involvement from members.

They have set the theme for this year on sustainability which gives their events a focus. Their club will focus on social media to spread the words out to the community about them. For professional development they have ideas such as visiting the Vancouver Board of Trade and Toastmasters meetings.

Programs that will be continued including after-school mentoring, King George Park events and Culture Connect. Different fundraising ideas are being considered including bottle drives and car washes. Currently their club is in the process of talking with Waves Coffee for a fundraising event.
