This Friday, Jan 13 will mark the first 12 months without a case of polio in India’s history - an important milestone in the fight against polio.

One of only four remaining polio endemic countries in the world, India has battled to get the upper hand in the fight against polio. As recently as 2009, India recorded the highest number of polio cases in the world. Many said it would never stop the spread.

But since then, nationwide collaboration has changed this story.

1 year polio free is a remarkable achievement. One that deserves to be celebrated.
