Kick Off New Year with Inspiring Meeting at Quilchena
The Rotary Club of Richmond Sunset kicked off the 2024 Rotary year in style with an inspiring meeting held on July 3rd, 2024, at the beautiful Quilchena Golf & Country Club, Richmond.
Led by our new president, Jim Ling, the event welcomed a diverse group of 23 attendees, including District 5040 Governor Drew Antrobus, members from brother clubs, and esteemed guests.
The meeting featured a dynamic agenda, beginning with warm introductions by Jim.
Following this, Kyle Gomes delivered a captivating presentation on the impact of the Rotary Club's Maternity & Child Health Endowment Fund, highlighting a project that helped a Brazilian hospital serving 24 towns significantly improve its neonatal care. Through international collaboration and generous donations, the project provided essential equipment for the hospital's NICU, nearly doubling its capacity and enabling them to care for approximately 220 fragile newborns annually.
Two new members, Jun Hang and Lokton Au, then delivered insightful Classification talks, sharing their backgrounds and professional journeys with the club.
District Governor Drew Antrobus followed with an informative overview of Rotary International and District 5040, emphasizing the organization's global reach, diverse programs, and dedicated committees.
The evening concluded with a heartfelt farewell to Jason Tam, a valued club member who is embarking on a new chapter in Singapore to pursue his master's degree. The club presented Jason with a gift and extended their best wishes for his future endeavors.
This first meeting of the new Rotary year, held in the elegant setting of Quilchena Golf & Country Club, was a testament to the Richmond Sunset Club's commitment to service, fellowship, and making a difference in the world.
